Asian Jumping Worms -
invasive & destructive, creating havoc in our gardens
It's Spring! We are all looking forward to working in our gardens - hands in the soil. But, the earthworms you may be seeing in increasing numbers are not the earthworms of years past. They are the invasive Asian Jumping Worm. (Amynthas spp.) Invasive!
Unlike our beneficial earthworms, this species does not improve the soil, or its' drainage, or add nutrients. They are also known as 'snake worms'. They have the potential to dramatically change our soil structure, impact our forests, and reduce biodiversity. Read more.
Join the Fun. Our growing season may be less than half the year, but the Hanover Garden Club nourishes members’ appetites for growing and designing with plant material through all twelve months. Members are welcome from all Upper Valley towns.
